The Combat Observer also know as Aircraft Observer was established on October 14, 1921 and discontinued on July 26, 1949. It was issued to Bombardiers until they had their own wings on September 4, 1942. It was also issued to Pilots as well as Navigators, Flight Engineers, Radio Observer Night Fighters, as well as Radio Observers who completed 50 of flying time in an observation role.
