This is a museum quality reproduction of an extremely rare unofficial badge from WWI used by some of the British Pigeon handlers. Pigeon were commonly used during WWI for commications and in fact a number of them were honored for their work. They were used by aircraft on patrol to report sightings of the emeny and from the front lines. It is very interesting to read about what some of these birds did during the war. This is an unofficial badge worn by pigeon handlers of WWI. It is a rather large badge, a little over 1 1/2 inches wide, and weights approximately 18 grams.
