This is a museum quality reproduction of a very rare French Pilot  badge wing from  the World War One in sterling silver. This squadron was first established on 2 August 1914 and became C39 in Feb 1915, then in Oct 1917 it became SOP 39 and finally SAL 39 on 14 Feb 1918. The letters indicate the type of aircraft they used. SAL is for Salmson. OK Why is the rabbit blowing a trumpet- I have no idea. This badge is 1 1/8 inch in diameter and has loop backs. A picture of this badge / wing can be found in French Military Aeronautical Branch Badges up to 1918 By Philippe Bartlett on page 98 and on page 333.
